Spanish Secret Conflict - Documentary Film

Spain, officially the Kingdom of Spain (Spanish: Reino de Espana), is a sovereign state found on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe. Its landmass is surrounded to the south and eastern by the Mediterranean Sea except for a small land border with Gibraltar; to the north and northeast by France, Andorra, and the Bay of Biscay; and to the west and northwest by Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean. Along with France and Morocco, it is just one of simply three countries to have both Atlantic and Mediterranean shorelines. Spain's 1,214 km (754 mi) perimeter with Portugal is the longest undisturbed perimeter within the European Union.

Spanish region also consists of 2 archipelagos; the Balearic Islands, in the Mediterranean Sea, and the Canary Islands, in the Atlantic Ocean off the African coast; 2 major exclaves, Ceuta and Melilla, in continental North Africa; and the islands and penones (rocks) of Alboran, Alhucemas, Chafarinas and Velez de la Gomera. With an area of 505,992 km2 (195,365 sq mi), Spain is the 2nd largest country in Western Europe and the European Union, and the fourth largest country in Europe. By population, Spain is the 6th largest in Europe and the fifth in the European Union.

Spain asserts Gibraltar, a 6-square-kilometre (2.3 sq mi) Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom in the southernmost part of the Iberian Peninsula. A Spanish town, it was dominated by an Anglo-Dutch pressure in 1704 during the War of the Spanish Succession on behalf of Archduke Charles, pretender to the Spanish throne.

The legal situation worrying Gibraltar was worked out in 1713 by the Treaty of Utrecht, in which Spain yielded the territory to the British Crown explaining that, needs to the British desert this blog post, it would be offered to Spain initially. Since the 1940s Spain has called for the return of Gibraltar. The overwhelming bulk of Gibraltarians strongly resist this, together with any kind of proposition of shared sovereignty. UN resolutions contact the United Kingdom and Spain, both EU participants, to reach a contract over the condition of Gibraltar.
